Orr Group TALKS Ft. Richard E. Marriot, Chairman of Host Hotels & Resorts

In our first Orr Group TALKS of the New Year, we’re joined by Richard E. Marriott, Chairman of Host Hotels & Resorts, the largest lodging Real Estate Investment Trust in the United States. Mr. Marriott is also Chairman of Bridges from School to Work, a partner of Orr Group’s for the past 20 years.

Mr. Marriott joins Steve Orr, Managing Partner, to discuss his philosophies and commitments as a leading philanthropists and signatory of the Giving Pledge, in addition to exploring his perspectives on mega-giving.

Richard E. Marriott is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Bridges from School to Work. Mr. Marriott is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Host Hotels and Resorts. A leader in the creation of Bridges, Mr. Marriott remains closely involved. He visits each of the local offices annually, hosts events in each Bridges city as well as the organization’s annual gala in Washington, DC. Mr. Marriott, the younger of the two sons of company founders J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott, is a graduate of the University of Utah and holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Steve Orr is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Orr Group. Under his leadership, he has facilitated the growth and evolution of the firm to its current position as a national leader in the nonprofit consulting sector.

Drawing on his investment banking and finance background, Steve brings a problem-solving approach, a focus on metrics, and an outcomes-driven perspective to the nonprofit sector. Steve is committed to enhancing philanthropy using innovative technologies and approaches developed in the business world to disrupt the established ways of working and encourage experimentation.
