Cornerstones Over the course of our partnership, Orr Group collaborated with Cornerstones to craft a robust fundraising plan and major gifts prospect pipeline, fundraise and plan for their 50th anniversary celebration, and provide Corporate Engagement services to manage a portfolio of approximately 50 current and potential corporate prospects.
Situation For more than 50 years, Cornerstones has served as a leading anchor organization, ensuring the stability and resiliency of everyone who calls Northern Virginia home. Their safety-net and wrap-around human services programs help people rebuild their stability, empowerment, and hope for leading healthy, connected lives.
Solution In preparation for its 50th Anniversary, Cornerstones partnered with Orr Group to undertake a development assessment to create an actionable fundraising roadmap to drive philanthropic revenue growth over the next several years. In addition to development planning, Cornerstones was in need of increased development capacity. To fill this gap, Orr Group stepped in as Cornerstones’ Major Gift Officer to refresh and support its major gifts program, including developing, identifying, and qualifying a robust portfolio of major gifts prospects. Following the completion of the development assessment, Cornerstones expanded its partnership with Orr Group to include planning, executing, and fundraising for their 50th anniversary celebration. In addition, Orr Group helped to hire and onboard new fundraising leadership and grow the organization’s individual giving program, which included annual giving, major gifts, and planned giving. Orr Group leveraged Cornerstones’ milestone event by amplifying its corporate Annual Partners program, strengthening its prospect pipeline, and supporting stewardship efforts among the organization’s current corporate donors. Orr Group also worked with Cornerstones’ Development Resources and Marketing and Communications team to grow their individual donors’ annual giving, major gifts, and planned giving programs. Most recently, Cornerstones engaged with Orr Group to provide Corporate Engagement Services as interim Philanthropy Officer. In this role, the Orr Group team is responsible for managing a portfolio of approximately 50 corporate prospects that include renewal prospects, identified prospects, and recent donor prospects. Additionally, this work includes leading the moves management process, tracking progress and reporting, and managing all corporate prospect outreach and communication.
