In the video above, get to know Ruth McFarlane, Chief Advancement Officer of the Ms. Foundation for Women.

Ruth is a seasoned nonprofit executive and community leader with over 20 years of multi-sector experience. An attorney and social worker, Ruth is passionate about building and amplifying people of color, queer, and women’s leadership, and catalyzing societal change. In her role at the Ms. Foundation, Ruth oversees fund development and communications. Since she joined the organization in 2019, Ruth has played a key role in the development and publication of Ms. Foundation’s groundbreaking reports, “Pocket Change: How Women and Girls of Color Do More With Less” and “Living with Pocket Change: What It Means to Do More With Less”, has significantly expanded its grant-making model, and has spearheaded its $100M “Creating the Future We Deserve” campaign in celebration of the Ms. Foundation’s 50^th anniversary.

Recognizing an opportunity to substantially grow its philanthropic revenue, Ruth and the Ms. Foundation team began a partnership with Orr Group in 2022 to support the organization’s annual fundraising goals. We’ve since expanded our work together and are serving as embedded partners to strategize, plan, launch, and support this milestone fundraising effort.
