Since pioneering food rescue in 1982, City Harvest has fought hunger in New York City by rescuing food and delivering it to hundreds of food pantries, soup kitchens and other community partners across the five boroughs.
To celebrate its success in helping New Yorkers access nutritious food and raise new funds to expand its programs, City Harvest partnered with Orr Group to develop a leadership and fundraising structure for its 35th Anniversary Gala. The gala was a glittering event hosted by Clinton Kelly, of ABC’s “The Chew” at Cipriani 42nd Street to commemorate the organizations founding, featuring an elegant dinner, live and silent auctions and a cash call. The record-setting evening, honoring Jose Andres, Bill and Wendy Mills, Chrissy Teigen, and Robin Hood raised over $4.6 million, enough to help feed nearly 17,000 families for a year
In the months leading up to the event, Orr Group worked to assess City Harvest’s current donor network, to assist in targeting and soliciting corporate sponsors and individual donor prospects, and to manage Gala co-chairs by creating personalized solicitation strategies and outreach. Through this outreach, Orr Group generated nearly $200,000 in revenue on behalf of the Gala co-chairs.
Orr Group also managed seating and guests lists for the Gala co-chairs. Following the event, we worked with City Harvest to formulate and implement a post-event strategy to ensure ongoing cultivation of key Gala sponsors and attendees.
